April Sharing Theme
Last week was super busy but we accomplished many tasks. We built leprechaun traps and almost caught a leprechaun in our classroom. You should have seen the mess he made in the classroom. Next year I need to remember not to make a sound as I approach the door.
It was great to have two very successful days of conferences with each child and the adult as it provided the opportunity for each child to celebrate their Learning Progress. I would like to thank all the adults for their sincere concern regarding the progress of their child. Our Lenten activities will continue with our daily Prayer Reflection. Each day we have a Scripture Reading followed by a discussion of how it relates to our particular situation in life. This week the children will receive the April Bulletin, Sharing Calendar and Homework Calendar. Remember to return the March Calendar when it is completed. This week we will continue with the Lenten and St. Patrick's Day themes. There has been much talk and excitement about the Leprechaun Traps that will be built on Monday, March 17. I am positive one of the traps will catch a leprechaun. Last year, we almost caught one but he got away when we opened the door!

The children discussed the significance of the ashes in the form of a cross that are placed on the forehead. As the ashes are provided from the old palm branches and blessed with Holy Water by the priest, the children created a palm branch as a symbol.
This week we are discussing the letter X. As the children now know the sounds of many letters, I encourage them to begin to sound the words whenever they are working with print format. They are excited about learning to read independently. I encourage the children to read with an adult as often as possible. |
